New Year’s Eve Bell

Posted by KAWASHITASOICHIRO on

How do you spend New Year's Eve?

You see many fireworks in the Netherlands every year.

In Japan, temples ring their bells at midnight on New Year's Eve. The bell is called “Joya no kane”

The bells ring 108 times late on New Year's Eve.

In buddhism, it’s said that human beings have 108 worldly desires which shouldn’t have and the bells help you throw the desires away.

Some temples allow visitors to ring their bells. If you can go to Japan at this timing, please visit a temple to ring the bell.
